APFN vs Openreach
Both are full fibre, but the big difference is upload. APFN is symmetric - upload matches download. Openreach FTTP is asymmetric - much lower upload.
Speeds compared
| Plan (download / upload) | APFN (symmetric) | Openreach (asymmetric) |
|---|---|---|
| Nibble (150) | 150 / 150 Mbps | 150 / 30 Mbps |
| Munch (500) | 500 / 500 Mbps | 500 / 75 Mbps |
| Feast (900) | 900 / 900 Mbps | 900 / 110 Mbps |
Which should you choose?
If you regularly upload - video calls, working from home, cloud backups, streaming, sending large files - APFN's symmetric upload is a big upgrade. For mostly downloading (browsing, watching streaming services), either network gives you fast, reliable full fibre.
Availability depends on your address. The quickest way to find out which networks reach your home is to check your postcode - we'll check APFN first, then other full-fibre networks.
